Next time you’re downtown for lunch, give La Terrazza a try. Like all downtown restaurants, it’s a little pricey, but at La Terrazza you actually get what you pay for.
(Update: The sign out front says “La Capanna”, but Google Maps still calls it “La Terrazza”. The menu and prices in the restaurant are the same as what is on the website, though. Odd.)
One of my roommates asked me to try a wine he had bought that disappointed him: Parsons Creek “Old Vines” Zinfandel from 2002.
It’s never a good sign when you sniff a wine and the first thought that comes to mind is “pool chlorine”.
Do yourself a favor and try this ice cream.
Best ice cream I’ve ever had. (Sorry, Blue Bell!)
On the label of Dasani’s new lemon-flavored offering, it describes the contents as a “natural lemon-flavored water beverage”.
“Water beverage”?
Is that the liquid equivalent of “cheese food”?
I strongly recommend the Cuban sandwich at El Rey Taqueria (we went to the one at Main and Congress, but they have other Houston locations). And if you can buy it take-out, and go to a nearby pub to wash it down with a glass of Shiraz, then all the better.
Earlier this weekend, I had the best pizza I’ve had since moving to Texas (admittedly not a high bar to clear). Sicily Pizza & Pasta’s pie won’t make anyone forget New Jersey’s finest, but if you live in Houston, it’s well worth a try.
